The city of Prague is very interesting and the Czech Republic is a country full of treasures. When I visited the city I was surprised to see all the amazing beauty and architecture. I would have to say that the one down side that I had on the tour would have to be the hotel that we stayed at. The hotel was named Andels which translates into Angels, but the room itself was on my rating scale a 4/10 due to certain things such as there were paint chips on the TV stand, there were stains on the carpet, behind the headboard there is a light and every time you would move it would hit the wall and there are marks from that, the bathroom has a glass door for the toilet and I find it to be stupid and also there are semi-glossy windows that face the bedroom and it is for natural light but it is honestly is not needed. Anyways the city has a river called the Vlitava and it is something that is stunning. The country is known for its glass goods and I can say they are very beautiful are not to be missed. The city of Prague has many things to offer and many interesting things too, one of them is located in the area of the Andels hotel and it is a model train exhibit which I went to visit, I have to say that nothing can beat seeing one of the most stunning views of model railroading. I absolutely loved it, they have a system that creates a sight of being in a real city with dimming lights that simulate night time and then they come back on slowly like it is in the morning. I also loved going the river cruise and seeing the city from a river view. Out of all I think the trip was a huge success and I would recommend that everyone go to on a tour of the Bohemian countries.
I'm writing this from what I can remember from this amazing city. The city of Vienna or as its called Wien is one city that has a lot of amazing sights and sounds. I love to see a new city and this city was one that has been on my list for a while and man was I shocked when I went there. There is a lot to do but its also an expensive one. I spent most of my time inside the city and saw the expensive side. But I would say that the hotel was the best part of the stay in Vienna, with a view of the Danube you wouldn't want to ever leave the room. I had an amazing dinner at the hotel restaurant which had the amazing view of the Danube from where I sat. The city has a vivid history and I would like to say that at some point of time I honestly got bored of listening about it haha. I would say that there are many statues that are scattered around the city and make it seem fun haha but I think everything that I saw was a positive thing because one cannot just go to Vienna and not see the beautiful buildings that scatter the city. I loved the city. That's all I have to say.
Well the city of Budapest is one city in Europe not to be missed since it has a lot of lovely sights, mainly during the evening hours. Upon arriving in Hungary we were told of how beautiful the country is and what to look forward to. Interesting fact that our tour guide told us was that on two seperate occasions a tour bus was stolen in Budapest, I find that to be very funny. Anyways the city was once divided into two sides one side was Buda which is the hilly part of the city and the other was Pest or as they say it Pescht. The two sides would try to out do one another by building magnificant churches which symbolized the power of one another. The cities were divided by the Danube which if you look at it right is blue, we will learn about the significance of the water colors later, but the two joined together and formed Budapest and was also part of the Roman empire which gave Budapest the name Aquincum. Later on the country would be formed into Austro-Hungary and then be taken over by the Nazis during World War II and then fall into the hands of the Soviets after the war. During the time of Soviet occupation many of the buildings were turned into giant family housing. But enough history, lets get to point, a must do thing in Budapest is go take a river cruise on the Danube at night because that is one of the most spectacular sights ever. I am shocked and in awe at how beautiful it was to see the city glistening at night and seeing the amazing Parlament building lite up. If you go to Budapest you must, I say must go on a river cruise or dinner cruise at night on the Danube. I can say that the city of Budapest has a lot of interesting people and things to see but the Danube is a must. I also visited a family run winery which I can say I got a little tipsy at due to the strong Hungarian wine, but otherwise the food itself was perfect and the company I shared it with was even better. During the summer the city can get pretty warm and is always pleasent since you can go out and find all kinds of treasures that one would not expect to find at home. I found some amazing gifts in St. Andrews church area and even some traditional Hungarian clothing that is worn for costumes. I also visited a part of a excavation site where the Romans once lived. The city has many sights and sounds but it is the most beautiful at night when everything is glistening with beauty. I am going to say that Budapest is better than Paris, London, or Zurich for the reason of that it is just stunning to see all the lights on the Danube at night. I absolutely loved going to Budapest and would love to go back to just see the city. Now about the water color, it is said that if you see the Danube colored blue then you are in love, but if its black or gray your love has gone away. Just watch out if your with your wife or lover!
Let's start off by saying that this country is filled with treasures. I only traveled to Warsaw and krakow but it was the towns I between that are not to be missed. Poland was taken over by both the Nazis and Russians and feel in tough times. But after Poland gained it's independence it prospered. The first shopping center in Poland was IKEA and it brought in many people wanting to see what the West had to offer. Many of Ikeas products are made in Poland. Then there is the sadder history of Poland, during the times when the Nazis were in control of Poland they built concentration camps, I visited Auschwitz 1 and 2. Visiting them both was hard and I don't think that one would have truly understood what went on in the times when they were all there. I find that I learned more about what happened at the spot itself then I ever did at school. In Poland one must visit the many traditional restaurants. I went to an amazing family run restaurant outside of krakow and had traditional kielbasa, pierogi, and traditional food. While at the restaurant we were danced, drank, and had a good old time. I love Poland and all of it's natural beauty. One cannot say that it's boring if they have never been there. We also visited the spot where the Black Madona was and it was another place not to miss if you ever go to Poland. Another one is to visit the salt mines that are located in krakow. The salt mine has three levels that are open to the public and have many interesting salt statutes that one has to see. So lets start out by saying that the wonderful city of Berlin is one not to be missed when on holiday in Europe, with its world famous curry wurst, its shopping, its amazing statues of the bears of Berlin, and its magnificant subway system. The city is full of treasures to be found. Like me I've been able to rome around the city like I have lived there my whole life. I find the U-Bahn very fast and efficient for a traveler who has never been to Berlin, you just purchase a ticket for all three zones and then you go scan the ticket and wait for the subway to come and just hop on then your whisked to your destination. I traveled on it and found it quick and simple, even better than the MUNI system in San Francisco which has a lot of riders but very hard to understand. While in Berlin I visited the reichstag, the famous Berlin TV tower which offers 360 degree views of the city, we also visited the Brandenburg gate which was a sight to see if you ever go. The hotel was the Hilton Berlin which was located centrally in the middle of town giving me an extensive choice of shopping and transportation choices. Having been in Berlin last year when Obama visited gave me a limited view of Berlin but this time I had a lot more time to go out and see the town. For shopping I chose the famous KaDeWe department store where they have a fine shopping experience on the first floor with Mont Blac to name one but there are many more, then they have clothing on the 2-3 floors, the 4th floor has home shopping I believe and then I believe the 5th floor has a toy store which has many goodies such as HO gauge marklin trains, model airplanes, building kits, and many other goodies for the kids. After visiting there I went down the street to the Lego store which has 3 floors the top offers an area where children can sit and build with the Legos, the 2nd and 1st floors offer the Lego kits for anyone who enjoys them plus you can make your own Lego person for 2.49€ or if you make three it's going to cost you 6.49€ which is ok if your feeling a little spendy. After that I traveled a little further to the Saturn media store which has everything from music to appliances, interestingly enough I found my favorite American show Emergency! offered in German and they even had the whole series in a box set for 99€ but I had to fight temptation to buy it but I did buy season 4 of the show which now I can watch in German! After that I traveled back to the underground station and went to back to the hotel. The other must see store in Berlin is the famous chocolate store next to the Hilton Berlin, the store features a full soccer player made out of chocolate, the titanic made out of chocolate, the reichstag made out of chocolate, an airliner made out of chocolate and a few more things made out of chocolate for you lovers of that specialty. Another store is the ampleman store which is the famous store that offers everything in the famous crossing sign man form. The first night we went to the Löwenbrau restaurant that offers authentic German food and it was to die for, I couldn't even finish my meal because of how big it was! I love my curry wurst so I had to have it in Berlin where it is famous, man was it delicous! We'll I will write about Warsaw later but for now I hope you enjoy the little insight I have given you on Berlin. Today I will talk to you about what I have been doing in Frankfurt. Let's start out by saying that the Sheraton Offenbach is a very interesting and lively hotel. Having stayed there for three days actually was a very good choice since we did not have to worry about anything happening to us before the tour. Yesterday we started the tour and got to meet our tour director Christopher who is a very nice and caring person. He is from Poland along with our bus driver who is interestingly enough named Chris. We took a small tour of Frankfurt where we got to see the city from the same point of view that I had last year. But this time I got to go to the big shopping center on the other side of where we were which I can say was a giant zoo and I am not going to do that again..... maybe when I get back I'll try to get some shopping in. The day ended with us getting to have a welcome dinner which is where we all got to meet one another. I met a nice older lady named Lyn who comes from Australia and has an adopted daughter from Russia, Lyn seems to be an amazing person who I believe I will get to know a lot better over the next few weeks. I promise to post pictures a little later on to the blog but for now I hope you enjoy your day and have a lot of fun!
Today I will be reviewing two Delta flights. I hope you enjoy reading it. Delta Flight 2389 On board this flight I traveled in Economy and it was absolutely stunning. This flight I traveled on a Boeing 767-300 series which was a very good one. As in the previous post I said that the wifi offered by gogo was not very good but I am going to take it back because I was able to use it without any problem. The wifi was stunningly fast and I was able to post pictures rather quickly. Delta offers a special menu called Eats which offers breakfast and lunch/dinner. I tried the Smoked Turkey Bagel Sandwich which was delicious and not bad at all. While flying I got to try out a new tracking system on board the aircraft which was stunningly amazing but does need to have some changes such as it could use an interactive guide to sights or interesting places you are flying over, faster updating, a 3D view; otherwise I was glad to see that Delta has updated their in flight tracking system. The flight crew was very helpful and was always willing to help with anything that the passengers needed. As we flew into Detroit it began to get a little bumpy and while on the final approach we hit the rain and I mean it started to come down. As we got to the gate it was a quick deboarding process. As we got off it was raining very hard and even had lighting and thunder which closed the airport. I am saddened that I didn’t get to have one of Delta’s famous Biscoff cookies but I will try to on the flight back to San Francisco. Delta Flight 142 This flight was an international flight on an aircraft that I had never traveled on before but was very sleek and fast. Before we boarded the aircraft the captain came out and spoke to everyone about the plane and explained about the layout of the Business Elite class and the Economy section. After the airport reopened we were all let to board by our zones and Business class was first of course. We waited a good 20-30 minutes to get out of the gate but it made no difference. Interestingly enough there were many empty seats in the Economy comfort section and the economy section, what I had heard was that 60 passengers had missed the plane and we were given a lot of extra room on board. After we got out of the gate we got to the runaway where we got up in the air and flew into the sunset over Canadian airspace. While flying I was able to recharge my phone and camera battery with the under seat power outlets and USB. We were given a small snack before dinner which was pretzels and peanuts. For dinner there was a choice of pasta, southwest chicken, or salad. I had the pasta which was good but could have used a little bit more marinara sauce, I also tried a piece of the Southwest chicken which was delicious. For desert we had a small chocolate bar which was good for a meal like we had. As I said before around 60 people had missed the plane so we were able to stretch out and have a little extra space to sleep. I couldn’t sleep as usual but I was able to watch the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean, which was a sight not to be missed. As we began to edge closer to Germany we were served a small breakfast which was an egg sandwich with a banana and orange juice. Flying into Frankfurt was very good and it is also another sight not to be missed. After landing we taxied to our gate and I was able to catch the Fanhansa plane by Lufthansa. After deplaning we took a long walk to passport control and then to the baggage claim which was very quick. Both flights were amazing and a great way to start my vacation. Frankfurt Offenbach This city is very interesting and full of a lot of shops and interesting food options. Interestingly enough they have KFC here in Germany and I was shocked. For dinner we ate at a German version of a sports bar which was interesting and I would say like an American sports bar. Now that I am here in Germany I am hoping you all enjoy what is to come and what I have just written! Have a wonderful day and have fun too! Photos from the trip
